Vanessa

Vanessa Oppenlander, MD
Dr. Oppenlander has been at the clinic since 2002 and has nine years of experience in family practice. She received her BA in Biology from the University of Oregon, and her MD from Baylor College. She completed her residency at Mercy Merced Medical Center; assuming the role of Chief Resident in her final year. She has a special interest in the role of nutrition and physical fitness in establishing wellness and preventing disease — for the entire family and the entire person. She is very happy to be practicing in the community where she lives with her husband and three children, and enjoys hiking and kayaking on the coastline. She speaks Spanish and is Board Certified in Family Medicine.

Lorainne

Lorraine Page, MD
Dr. Page has been living and practicing medicine on the coast since 1993 and has been an anchor at the clinic through many transitions. She received her BS in Neurobiological Sciences from the University of Florida and received her MD degree from the University of South Florida. She completed her residency at UCLA. She has pursued additional training in nutritional and integrative medicine, and believes in treating patients in a holistic manner. She enjoys kayaking, scuba diving, and beachcombing along the coast. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine.

Erica

Erica Peterson, MD, MPH
Dr. Peterson has been at the clinic since 2005, and has seven years experience practicing medicine. She received a BS in Biology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Dr. Peterson attended medical school at Duke University and went on to earn her Master’s in Public Health in Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After completing her 4-year combined residency training in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, Dr. Peterson served on faculty as Pediatric Chief Resident in the Department of Pediatrics at Duke University Medical Center. She enjoys hiking, running, traveling, and cooking, and is eager to assist with ongoing public health initiatives and community projects on the coast. She speaks medical Spanish and is Board Certified in both Pediatrics and Internal Medicine.

Allan Weisshar, MD
Dr. Weisshar has practiced pediatric medicine in California for 28 years. He graduated with honors from Northwestern University School of Medicine in Chicago, and completed his Pediatric specialty training at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and Children’s Hospital, Los Angeles. Dr. Weisshar is a strong patient advocate with special interests in asthma, Attention Deficit Disorder and adolescent medicine. Dr. Weisshar has been a pediatric clinical faculty member at both UCLA and UCSF School of Medicine, teaching students and residents for 25 years. He is board certified and speaks medical Spanish.

Johanna Wolgast, MD
Dr. Wolgast has been at the clinic since 2004, and has eleven years of experience in family practice. She is also Assistant Clinical Professor at UCSF’s Department of Family and Community Medicine. She graduated from UC Berkeley with a major in Slavic Languages and Literatures and received her MD degree from UC San Diego. She completed residency at the University of Minnesota’s Rural Family Practice program. She has worked in clinics in Alaska, Guatemala, Nigeria, Ukraine, and Russia. She speaks Spanish, as well as fluent Russian, and is studying Mandarin Chinese. She believes primary care should emphasize education, and tries to maximize patient involvement in health care decisions. She enjoys gardening, backpacking, and knitting. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine.
