Clinic Programs
Caring For Coastside Kids Hands-on tutorials for new parents, where the basics of health and safety are explained. Our physicians educate parents about childhood illnesses and preventive care. We also provide “baby kits” filled with thermometers, ointments, Tylenol, and other essential products for newborns. New to the program is an asthma education workshop taught by a local health educator. Parents whose children have been diagnosed with asthma can speak to their physician about this free workshop.
Just for Teens Clinic (JFT) The Coastside’s only dedicated medical treatment facility specifically for youth ages 12 to 20 years. Confidential services range from contraceptive counseling, reproductive, and mental health services. Collaborations with local middle and high schools allows for outreach services. The JFT Clinic is open every Monday from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. on a walk-in basis. No appointment necessary!
Bay Area Regional Immunization Registry In collaboration with the state and county health departments, CFMC enters pediatric patient’s immunization and tuberculosis information via an Internet-based registry. These confidential records allow physicians, hospitals, and human service agencies within California to have the most up-to-date history of a child’s vaccinations. If for any reason, patients leave the Coastside area, their records are held in this database and allows them easy access to their health information without having to wait for a hard-copy.
Shot Clinics We provide vaccinations in accordance with the latest trends and health concerns from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Our flu shot clinics normally begin in October — we recommend flu shots for adults over the age of 65, children between 6 months to 5 years old, healthcare workers, and thos suffering from chronic conditions.
The Pescadero Family Health Program
The Pescadero Family Health Program was established in 2004 to provide primary care services in the rural areas of the South Coast. We provide clinic hours two ½ days per week and in collaboration with local social service agencies, administer medical care and provide referral information to the local farm workers in the region. Through a generous grant from The California Wellness Foundation CFMC is now offering a charitable care program to uninsured residents who qualify.
Nursing Mother’s Program
In conjunction with the Nursing Mother’s Council and WIC (Women, Infant & Children), CFMC provides breastfeeding support to low-income women of the Coastside by offering free rentals of electric breast pumps. Our Managing Nurse Barb Nielsen and Medical Assistant Yvette Shelton are Certified Lactation Consultants and offer new moms training on use of pumps and counseling. Hand pumps are also available free of charge.
